Trophies of the Great age
As part of the first edition of Trophies of the great age, event which consists in promoting and in rewarding the best initiatives or innovations, intended for the improvement of the quality of life of the old persons. The Orfidée society was nominated for its plan UbiQuiet, in the category 1: "Habitat - Environnement". This category rewards the society having conceived solutions intended to improve comfort, environment and environment of the old person at home.
This event will be held on Monday, April 27th, 2009 at 18 h 00 in "Théatre Mogador", it will implicate media and journalists and will be chaired by a Jury of high level

Orfidée participated, under the invitation of Sun microsystems, in Days Innovact which were held in Reims on March 24th and 25th, 2009.
During these days, Orfidée could meet different local and national actors to which was subjected the UbiQuiet plan, which allows to extend maintaining at home of old persons thanks to the use of new technologies.
Advantageous for fortuitous meetings as for planned exchanges, the Living room Innovact allowed, in 2009, to introduce Orfidée to financiers, to consultants and to research laboratories, without counting "the Minute of the Businessman" (in 2008), introduced by Emmanuel Libaudière (MarTech).

The French Navy is interested in Zigbee for localizing its firemen aboard ships.
To ensure the safety of its crew affected to security, the French Navy has launched, in fall 2008, an experimentation aiming at localizing team members inside Lafayette class frigates.
The French navy selected the technology, communication standard for wireless sensor networks (WSN), which offers a safety of transmissions and a great autonomy of its sensors. Zigbee already demonstrated its value in various applications and many branches of the industry, utilities as well as in the medical sector.
The French Navy entrusted , a young company based near Paris, France, to carry out this experimentation, which is being held in Toulon, along quayside and at sea, and which will be implemented over the next few months.

European ZigBee Developers' Conference
The second edition of the European Zigbee Developers Conference took place on June 24th and 25 th of this year in Munich, Germany.
During these two days, the Zigbee alliance as weel as about twenty axhibitors allowed 200 participants native of 23 different countries to exchange around the Zigbee standard
It was question of the extension of the standard towards the Zigbee profile this being totally interoperable with the 2007 version and allowing the realization of wider networks (more than 100 rodes).
During the conference, the exhibitors such as Texas Instruments, freescale, Jennic or the Russians MeshNetics held several worshops on which they were able to presente their integration of the standard in their range of products.
The objective of the exhibitors and speakers was to demonstrate their applications ease of deployment.
Notables, TI highlighted it's last generation processor CC2480 and insisted on their simple for faster development.
having 23 different countries represented during these two days illustrate the adoption of Zigbee as a worlwide standard for M2M applications.
The presence of manufacturers already developing solutions based on Zigbee (for example Alertme.com), as well as academics' participation (notably the ECE school in France or the university of Minho in Portugal) are also encouraging indicators of the dast adoption of Zigbee.

Projects in coordination with engineer schools
Orfidée managed two projects in association with ECE - Ecole Centrale d'Electronique - (Paris). Dedicated to discover benefits of Zigbee, the first project aimed at guiding blind people in the premises of any company. The second one was devoted to a supply chain application using RFID and NFC technologies.

The Show M2M speaks about ZigBee
" The show M2M which was held on April 1st, 2nd and 3rd of this year in the Door from Versailles to Paris showed a real evolution with regard to the previous years by making a place more important for the networks of wireless sensors. In particular the standard Zigbee which was well represented on the stands of the show but also widely evoked during the conferences.
During the conference ' What support for which communications? ' Supports 3G, GPRS, HSDPA, WIFI MESH, were naturally presented, but it is around the standard Zigbee that the exchanges were most fed, proof of the real interest which arouses this technology.
The technical advantages are indeed many: weak energy consumption, robustness, reliability and security, but in front of his competitors, it is on its very wide range of applications that Zigbee distances itself (home automation, immotique, management of the energy, the medical applications, the industrial automation).
Even if there are still no big deployments of Zigbee in France, we notice that this standard interests not only the French industrialists but also the operators and the integrators of services. "
